Vijayawada: Actor, director sent to remand

an upcoming actress lodges complaint against the duo with cops they they misbehaved with her in a car on way to Bhimavaram from Hyderabad.

Vijayawada: Film director Chalapati and actor Srujan have been remanded to police custody for 14 days following complaints of sexual harassment and attempt to rape against them by a budding actress.

Police arrested the duo basing on the complaint and produced them in the Vijayawada city court on Saturday. The Magistrate ordered for remand and they have been shifted to the Vijayawada sub-jail.

According to Vijayawada Central ACP N. Satyanandam, on August 14, the heroine resisted the hero and director from attempting to rape her in a moving car.

Director Chalapathi and hero Srujan promised to offer the role of a heroine to her in their upcoming movie. While they were on their way to Bhimavaram from Hyderabad for a shoot, the duo reportedly tried to misbehave with her after reaching Nidamanuru near Vijayawada.

The actress resisted the attempts and while they entered into an argument, the car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry.

The actress, who suffered injuries, was admitted to a private hospital and the Vijayawada Patamata police registerd a case against the director and the actor.

Though the issue came to the notice of the police on Aug. 14. they took time to confirm the allegations by the actress as both the parties have issues with financial transactions. After confirmation, the police arrested the accused on Friday.
