AP rights chief Nannapaneni Rajakumari takes rape victim to hospital

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission chairperson, Nannapaneni Rajakumari has expressed displeasure over the reluctance of the police department to provide medical assistance to a minor rape-victim.

The eight-year-old girl was kept at the SP’s office for the past two days for investigation without providing any medical aid.

She was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Sileru forest area on Wednesday. Her parents had already lodged a police complaint on Thursday.

According to the police, the accused who was identified as Pangi Jinnu, a tribal from the same village, took the girl into the forest under the pretext of giving her fruits and raped her. Preliminary investigation revealed that Jinnu is guilty. A case has been registered against him under Section 376 of IPC and Section 3 of the POSCO Act.
