Hyderabad: A private bank employee was duped by fraudsters, who trapped him by claiming to be officials from the credit card wing of the very bank he was working for.
After losing money in a credit card fraud, he lost money in another fraud related to his debit card, the next day.
According to police, the victim first received an SMS message urging him to redeem the rewards he had earned on his credit card as otherwise they would be blocked.
As the message looked like it was sent from his bank, he immediately clicked on the link and entered the details. What followed immediately was a series of SMS alerts about the debits from his account, which totalled to Rs. 64,061. The next day, he got alerts from the bank in which he had a savings account that Rs.50,500 was debited. After being swindled of Rs. 1,14,561 from his credit and debit cards, he lodged a complaint with the city cybercrime wing.
