Hyderabad: Realtor held for hotel rape

Culprit's 3 associates held for intimidation.

Hyderabad: Banjara Hills police arrested an AP-based realtor on Friday for allegedly raping a Delhi-based domestic help at the Hotel Banjara Suites in Banjara Hills and his three associates for helping him.

Police said the suspect entered the victim’s room claiming to be hotel staff and after threatening her with a toy pistol raped her. The victim was in Hyderabad to accompany her employer’s daughter and her friend. The arrested persons are Vamshi Krishna Reddy, 32, Ashok, 26, Shabbir, 45 and Mahendra Reddy, 30, all hailing from Nellore district.

The victim, 20, in her complaint said that she and her employer’s daughter and her friend came to Hyderabad on August 6 and checked into Hotel Banjara Suites on Road No: 10 in Banjara Hills. She was on the fourth floor while her employer’s daughter and her friend were on the second floor.

Shse said that on Tuesday night, when she came down to meet her companions, four persons intercepted her near the lift and forced her to enter it, but she escaped and went via the stairs. After sometime, the friend of her employer’s daughter went out to buy food and she was alone in her room.

Meanwhile, the suspects knocked at the door saying they are from room service. When the victim opened the door, Vamshi threatened her with a toy pistol. But she managed to run out, but Vamshi followed her and dragged her into a room and raped her, while his friends confined her employer’s daughter in her room. The suspects also stole cash from her room, police said. A case of rape was booked against Vamshi. His friends were booked for outraging a woman’s modesty and intimidation.

Banjara Hills inspector K. Srinivas said the suspects used to come to the city frequently. “They were staying in the hotel since 20 days. Vamshi is the main accused. All the four were arrested and produced in court. The victim was sent for medical examination and is being counselled at the Bharosa centre,” he said.
