Hyderabad: Man who killed wife over property held

The accused was traced with the help of mobile signals and held.

Hyderabad: A 27-year-old man murdered his wife at their residence in Jubilee Hills, following a heated argument regarding a property which was registered in her name, police investigations have revealed.

After taking Rs 1.5 lakh, 20 tola gold and a flat worth Rs 50 lakh, which was initially in his wife’s name, Siraj picked a fight with his wife and in-laws to change the registration of the flat in his name. Later, in a fit of rage, he killed her brutally, the Jubilee Hills police said.

According to the police, Siraj, who works as a welder in Sanath Nagar, married Haseena, 19, from Sri Krishna Nagar one-and-a-half-year back.

“On August 18, Siraj beat up his wife and sent her away from the house. Haseena went to her father, Aslam Khan’s place along with her four-month-old baby boy. Aslam Khan convinced Siraj to take his daughter back. In the early hours of Sunday, while the family was asleep, Siraj slit his wife’s throat, following which Haseena died,” police inspector of Jubilee Hills, P. Chandra Shekar said. The accused was traced with the help of mobile signals and held.

which later got disconnected, the police said.

Based on a complaint made by the victim's father, the police have filed a case under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC and started investigation.
