Hyderabad: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and impregnated by an advocate and his son at Chaitanyapuri. The girl was working at the advocate’s office and house since six months. Child rights activists rescued the girl from his house in Green Hills Colony on Tuesday and approached the police.
The girl alleged that she was beaten up several times by the rapists and the family when she tried to resist their sexual assault. Police booked a case against advocate M. Sudhakar Reddy, 60, and his son Bharath Kumar Reddy, 30, for raping and assaulting the girl. Both went absconding after finding out about the case. The police has launched a manhunt to arrest them.
The girl, who hails from Suryapet, was brought to the advocate’s house to do household work and odd jobs. Since the day she came she was subjected to sexual assaults by the suspects, police said.
“I was sodomised by the father often and his son repeatedly raped me. When I tried to complain other members of the family beat me up,” the girl said. The girl had to suffer torture and sexual assaults for many days till she was rescued by child rights activists.
Activists said the suspects had committed two offenses simultaneously by forcing the child into bonded labour and by raping her. After the rescue, police sent the girl for medical examination to verify the allegations and pregnancy.
Chaitanyapuri inspector G. Guru Raghavendra said that a case under Section 376 and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 were registered.
Child rights group Balala Hakkula Sangham demanded that the girl’s pregnancy should be medically terminated to save her future. They also demanded that the government should support her by sponsoring her accommodation and education.
