Bengaluru: For this 33-year-old engineer, students easy prey

\"Investigations revealed that he used to roam near colleges in the evening after work and misbehave with the girl students.

Bengaluru: A 33-year-old man was arrested by the Chandra Layout police after he allegedly molested a student of National Law School of India University (NLSIU). Investigations revealed that he had molested another student of the same institute a few days ago.

The accused has been identified as Vineeth Kumar, a resident of Srigandhakaval. He is an engineering graduate and works in the mechanical division of a factory.

According to the police, the first incident was reported on April 10 at Market Road in Nagarabavi and the student had filed the complaint on May 3, as she was busy with exams.

The police had started the probe and were analysing CCTV footage to identify the accused. Again on May 5, he molested another student of the same institute and was caught immediately.

"In the second incident, the student had gone to a Lassi Shop on Nagarbavi-Jnanabhrathi Road along with friends around 9 pm. The accused person allegedly touched the student inappropriately. Her friends managed to nab him with the help of others. On getting an alert a Hoysala vehicle that was stationed nearby rushed to the spot. He was immediately arrested," the police said.

"As there was similarity in the first and second incident, the complainant in the first incident was called to identify the accused. The student admitted that it was same person who had touched her inappropriately when she had gone to a restaurant on April 10, around 9 pm. When his cell tower dump was analysed, it was confirmed that he was in the same location during the time of incident," the police added.

"Investigations revealed that he used to roam near colleges in the evening after work and misbehave with the girl students. He also used to board crowded BMTC buses and misbehaving with women passengers. When his parents, both working as managers in different banks, were questioned, they said he was depressed and availing treatment for the same. However, investigations revealed that the accused was intentionally committing the offences," the police said.
