Hyderabad: Former Osmania University employee beaten to death by neighbours

Hyderabad: A 60-year-old former employee of Osmania University was beaten to death by his neighbours on Saturday night. The deceased, Humayun Kabir, retired as a physical education teacher and was staying in the university campus.

“The neighbours, Mohammed Anwar Shareef, 45, his wife, Nazma Begum, 42, wanted to build a room near their residence in the campus and got bricks, cement and other material for the purpose. However, the university authorities prevented it,” said V. Ashok Reddy, inspector of OU police.

Suspecting that Humayun Kabir passed on the information, the family hatched a plan and called their relative, Mohammed Burhan, to take revenge.

“Accordingly, the trio intercepted him at a secluded place in the campus and beat him with a wooden log. He was rushed to the hospital where he died while undergoing treatment due to internal bleeding,” added the official.

Based on a complaint, the police arrested the trio.
