Hyderabad: A Hindu priest was detained on Wednesday following rape allegations by a 45-year-old woman. Police picked up the second priest of Veeranjaneyulu Sai Baba temple of Narayanguda named Rama Rao.
The victim, who is from Delhi, alleged that Rama Rao had taken her to a storeroom in the temple and removed her clothes to apply saffron on her body on Tuesday morning. The victim had come to Hyderabad to meet her daughter. When she went to visit the temple, she met the priest and told him about her family problems. He asked her to come to the temple next day morning, and sexually assaulted her. Police officials are still investigating the case.
