Hyderabad: 20-year-old Rohingya with Aadhaar held

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police arrested a 20-year-old Rohingya Muslim on Tuesday in Pahadishareef for trying to secure an Indian passport using false documents.

The suspect, Mohammed Ismail alias Esha, who had obtained an Aadhaar card and an Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) had paid Rs 18,000 to his employer in the city to arrange an Indian passport for him.

Police said, Esha, hailing from the Nayapahara village of Myanmar, came to Bangladesh in 2014, when Rohingya Muslims were expelled from Myanmar.

Later, he entered India by road with the help of an agent and reached New Delhi and stayed at the Burma Refugee Camp, worked there and also secured UNHCR card No: 305-15C02062.

After that, with the help of another agent he moved to Belgaum in Karnataka to work as a butcher and met one Anwar. “With the help of Anwar he secured an Aadhaar card and an EPIC. In June 2016, Anwar brought him to Hyderabad and introduced him to one Abdul Rasheed of Pahadishareef, who allowed to him to stay in his house as a tenant. He had been living there since 15 months,” said LB Nagar DCP M. Venkateswar Rao.

Esha was working in a tile making unit, Mr Rao added. Meanwhile, Esha decided to go to Dubai.

“He had asked Rasheed to help him get a passport and paid him Rs18,000. He also got an Aadhaar card and an electoral ID card which he got transferred from Karnataka to Hyderabad through an agent, and had approached the same agent for passport also,” the DCP added.
