Fake police robs woman of her 40-gm gold chain in Bengaluru

Police who registered the case are collecting CCTV footage from the cameras installed surrounding the area for clues.

Bengaluru: A bike-borne man in the disguise of police robbed of a woman of her 40-gm gold chain in Annapoorneshwari Nagar.

The victim Sujatha, a resident of Nagarbhavi has lodged a complaint in this regard and the police are examining the CCTV footage from the CCTV cameras installed in the area where the incident happened.

The incident took place recently and came to light on Monday. At 9 am, Sujatha told police that she was walking towards her mother’s house in the same area too cook food. As she reached the 8th cross, two bike-borne men approached her and one of them who was wearing a police uniform, informed her that a woman was robbed of her gold chain in the next street and advised her to remove her chain and keep it in a bag.

Thinking the advice to be genuine from a real policeman, Sujatha obliged and kept her chain in a plastic packet and continued walking after thanking the ‘policeman’. As she walked a distance, the bike-borne men approached her and decamped with the plastic bag in which Sujatha had kept her chain. Both the robbers were wearing helmets, the police said.
