Nellore: In a bizarre incident, a second year intermediate student attempted suicide by laying his hands on a high tension railway power cable after climbing a stationary goods train at Puttur railway station in Chittoor on Monday evening.His classmates and other passengers were dumbstruck when they noticed the youth atop the goods train who was thrown off the roof after touching the cable.
The victim has been identified as S. Babu, 17 who suffered 80 per cent burns. He was rushed to Ruia hospital in a critical condition after first aid was provided in government hospital, Puttur. He is a student of SRS junior college in Puttur and a native of Battalakandriga village in Puttur. His kin and friends are clueless over the reason for him taking the extreme step.
