Visakhapatnam: The judge for Pocso court in Vizianagaram, Shaik Sikandar Basha on Friday sentenced a 40-year-old-man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs10,000 for sexually assaulting his 10-year-old daughter and her friend (who is also a minor) in Parvathipuram town of Manyam district a year ago. The court also directed the state government to pay Rs 4 lakh compensation each to the survivors.
The Parvathipuram Manyam district police said that the victim in her complaint to police on July 14, 2022, against her father said she was sexually assaulted by her father after her mother left home a few years ago.
Her father works at an iron shop. He sexually assaulted his daughter when she was asleep and often threatened her with dire consequences. The man sexually assaulted his daughter’s friend when she came to his home to meet his daughter.
Based on the complaints from the victim, the Manyam district police investigated the case and arrested the accused under Section 376 of IPC and relevant sections of the Pocso Act, 2012
