Coimbatore: A 26-year-old man, who attempted to murder his paramour by strangling and hitting with a stone after taking her to Kollimalai, was arrested by police.

Police said the accused S Muthukumar from Salem had an affair with Janani, 23, wife of Kumar from Asthampatty. “Janani left her husband and child some months ago to be with her paramour few months ago. On Thursday morning Muthukumar took Janani to Kolli Hills and revealed his plan to marry another woman. When she opposed vehemently, Muthukumar strangulated her using ‘dupatta’ and attacked her with a stone. He then pushed her down the slopes of the hill,” police said. However, she regained consciousness on Friday and took the help of passersby to inform cops at Valavanthinaadu police station.
