Hyderabad: MLA'S son booked for LPG fraud

The FIR says Mohd Abdul Quadri and Abdul Kareem could not give a satisfactory answer to the civil supplies enforcement team.

Hyderabad: The Bahadurpura police has registered a case against AIMIM’s Charminar MLA Ahmed Pasha Quadri’s son Mohd Abdul Quadri and one Abdul Kareem for illegally storing 168 filled and empty commercial LPG cylinders at a building in a residential colony.

The FIR says Mohd Abdul Quadri and Abdul Kareem could not give a satisfactory answer to the civil supplies enforcement team. The team had raided a house at Basti Nabi-e-Kareem near Mir Alam Idgah.

The complaint was made by Mr V. Bala Raju, an official of the civil supplies department. “The two were storing and selling gas cylinders. I request you to take action against Mohd Abdul Quadri and Abdul Kareem for diverting commercial gas cylinders,” the complaint said.

“In our preliminary investigation, it was found that the son of the Charminar legislator Ahmed Pasha Quadri had rented the building to Abdul Kareem, a resident of Aghapura. Every month Kareem handed over the rent to the MLA’s son,” ACP K. Ashok Chakravarthy said.

The raid was conducted based on a tip off from local residents, sources said. The police registered a case under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code and the Essential Commodities Act.
