Guntur: The Guntur police rescued a minor girl and has arrested her kidnapper from the Samba sector of J&K, 10 km from the Indo-Pak border. K. Likhita, 13, was kidnapped on April 21 from Bhattiprolu by autorickshaw driver Nageswara Rao. The cops tracked Rao’s phone and a police team reached Samba. Both the kidnapper and the victim were taken into custody. The police handed over Likitha to her parents on Thursday evening.
Guntur Rural SP K Narayan Naik said that kidnapper S. Nageswara Rao earlier worked in BSF and was dismissed. After that Nageswara Rao came to Bhattiprolu and started working as an autorickshaw driver. Mr Naik said that earlier Nageswara Rao tried to trap two other girls. But his attempts were foiled when one girl shifted to another school and the second girl stopped travelling in Rao’s autorickshaw. Liktha’s father Veera Swamy had warned Nageswara Rao when he found that he was trying to be more friendly with Liktha. But eventually, Rao lured Likhita and eloped with her on April 21. The two finally went to Samba, and Rao started working as a coolie and the two stayed in a rented house. Mr Naik said that he and 40 policemen went to Samba and freed Likhita by arresting Nageswara Rao. Meanwhile according to the reports, kidnapper Nageswara Rao claimed that he married Likhita in a temple and she had willingly gone with him.
