Jagdevpur suicide girls came from Mahbubnagar

The duo, who were close friends and classmates, had left their home in April first week without telling their parents.

Hyderabad: The two girls found hanging on a tree behind a temple in Jagdevpur were identified as residents of Shadnagar in Mahbubnagar.

The duo, who were close friends and classmates, had left their home in April first week without telling their parents. They travelled to Medak and had called their parents once from a public telephone in Jagdevpur.

The parents had filed a missing complaint with the Mahbubnagar police. The Medak police said the girls must have committed suicide. But they could not find a convincing reason for it.

The girls were identified as N. Sirisha, 16, and Manjula, 16. The duo had appeared for their Class X final examination and had left home after their last exam.

“They came to Jagdevpur and called home from a telephone booth. The call was made from the booth located near the Konda Pochamma temple behind which their bodies were found. When one of their parents picked up the phone they said that they were at a police station and suddenly cut the phone,” circle inspector K. Sathish said.

The body of one girl was found hanging on a tree while the other girl's body was found lying near the same tree on Monday. Both bodies were in a highly decomposed state.

“It looks like suicide. Their footwear were kept aside and there were no signs of a struggle in their dress,” said the CI. However, the police is yet to find out why they committed suicide.

“One of them was troubled about her relationship a few weeks ago. The fathers of both the girls had died earlier. Their relatives said both the girls were very close friends. We are trying to find out why they committed suicide,” the CI said.
The bodies were handed over to the family after autopsy. The post-mortem report is likely to reveal details about the deaths.
