NT Rama Rao's son gets 6 months jail in cheque bounce case

As the cheques bounced and there was no response from Jaya Krishna.

Hyderabad: Former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao's son Nandamuri Jaya Krishna was sentenced to six months simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25 lakh by a court on Wednesday in a cheque bounce case.

Petitioner's advocate S. Someswar Rao said his client G.S. Narsing Rao was running a canteen and cycle stand at the Rama Krishna theatre in Abids since 30 years and the owner of the theatre N. Jaya Krishna signed a MoU with another party for construction of a multiplex on theatre land.

“Mr Jaya Krishna has to return the security deposit of Rs 27 lakh to my client and he gave two cheques one for Rs 19 lakh and another for Rs 8 lakh to my client on June 15, 2015. As the cheques bounced and there was no response from Jaya Krishna, my client lodged a petition with the 10th Special Magistrate Court in Erramanzil under Section 138 of the NI Act,” he said.

He said that on Wednesday Justice K. Ravindra Singh sentenced Nandamuri Jaya Krishna to six months simple imprisonment and imposed a fine Rs 25 lakh. Of this Rs 19 lakh would have to be given to Narsing Rao.

“However, Mr Jaya Krishna got bail from the court as the judge directed him to pay Rs 10,000 as security deposit and gave time to appeal before October 5,” he said.
