Police intensify hunt to trace kidnapped infant

HYDERABAD: Gopalapuram police launched a search to rescue a seven-month-old boy, Kanhaiya, who was kidnapped from near the Secunderabad station late on Tuesday evening. Their parents Pinky Devi and Ajay had left Kanhaiya with his elder brothers, aged 4, 3 and 2, when an unknown person kidnapped the boy.

According to police, the couple belonging to Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh were working for daily wages and residing at Isnapur near Patancheru. When Ajay took to drink and started harassing her, Pinky decided to return home along with the children. However, when they arrived at Secunderabad railway station to take a night train to Uttar Pradesh, Ajay picked up an argument with his wife and said that he would stay back. When they returned to the spot later, they noticed that Kanhaiya was missing. On not finding him, despite frantic search, they lodged a complaint with the police.

SHO Gopalapuram Muralidhar Karanam said a kidnap case has been registered and two special teams have been deputed to rescue the child and nab the kidnapper.
