Nunna police avert rape attempt, nabs 4 boys

VIJAYAWADA: The Nunna police in Vijayawada said it had prevented the rape of a girl who was found in an inebriated condition, and arrested four boys who were with her. The police found the girl and the boys, all aged about 18 years, and drunk, were found arguing on a street in Devinagar, Nunna, late on Wednesday night,

After questioned them, the police found that the girl and one of the boys were students of a local polytechnic college. The other three boys were ITI students, and known to them. Police said the group came to Devinagar after a party. A Nunna police patrol was informed by some locals, who then rushed to the spot. The police found that all of them were inebriated, and questioned the boys.

Police then sent the girl for medical tests and took her statement on Thursday. Nunna inspector M. Durga Rao said, the four boys were arrested and were being questioned to find out if the intended to rape the girl. “We have registered a case of attempt to misbehave with the girl under IPC Section 376 (punishment for rape) read with 511 (attempting to commit offences punishable with life imprisonment).”
