Sircilla police arrest four, expose plot to murder woman\'s lover

Neelam Srinivas, a resident of Thippapur, who wanted to kill the lover of his daughter and gave an assignment to a contract killer gang

Peddapalli: The police on Thursday arrested four persons for hatching a murder plot and seized two knives, four mobile phones, a car, a two-wheeler and Rs 5,000 in cash from them in Thimmapur of Vemulwada town in Rajanna Sircilla district.

DSP Rahul Hegde said the prime accused Neelam Srinivas (45) was a resident of Thippapur village, who wanted to kill the lover of his daughter and gave an assignment to a contract killer gang. A chance police encounter with the gang exposed the plot before its execution.

Srinivas did not accept his daughter Shirisha’s love affair with Chintalatandam Manoj Kumar, a resident of Subash Nagar of Vemulawada town, and had forcibly got her married to another person. Shirisha continued her affair with Manoj even after her marriage.

After learning about this, her husband left her. For the past few months, Shirisha was back at her home and living with her parents. Recently, Shirisha fled with Manoj to Mumbai and after returned home after a few weeks.

“Father Srinivas decided to kill Manoj. He approached his friend Munuka Kuntaiah (44) and sent Manoj’s photo to him. On the advice given by Kuntaiah, Srinivas gave supari (agreement for murder) to Likindhra Sahni (34) of Bihar and Bommidi Raj Kumar (27), a resident of Korutla of Jagtial district. He agreed to pay Rs 5 lakh to accomplish the task,” police said.

When Likindhra and Raj Kumar were doing surveys on the movements of Manoj in Vemulawada and Thimmapur villages, they noticed a police patrol vehicle and tried to escape from there. The police caught hold of them, searched their car and found the knives. Questioning them led to the unravelling of the murder plot.
