Mysuru blast: Charges against three accused

Base Movement is allegedly the offshoot of the TN based banned terrorist organisation Al Umma.

Bengaluru: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) special court in the city on Monday framed charges against the three accused who were chargesheeted by the agency in the August 2016 Mysuru court blast case.

According to the NIA, the accused – Nainar Abbas Ali, M. Samsun Karim Raja and S. Dawood Sulaiman, all from Tamil Nadu – had carried out the Mysuru court blast as part of a "larger conspiracy, which included founding of the terrorist outfit Base Movement and carrying out other subversive activities such as sending threatening letters to some senior government officers, the Dinamalar office and the French Consulate in the City. The accused were also allegedly involved in carrying out similar blasts at different court premises in South India," stated the agency.

The accused had carried out bomb blasts in five court complexes between April and November 2016 in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

They have been charged under Sections 16 (1) (b), 18, 18B, 20 and section 23 of Unlawful Activities Prevention (P) Act, 1967 read with Sections 120b, sections 465, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code read with Sections 3, 4 & 5 of the Explosives Substances Act and section 4 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act 1984.
