Bad road may have led to eight-year-old girl's death

HYDERABAD: The cause of the gruesome accident at Bachupally that claimed the life of eight-year-old Gunda Deekshitha remains a mystery. While police blamed the speeding vehicle, it was also found that a bad road had led to the accident. Absence of CCTV cameras in the area is making it difficult to find out the exact cause.

Police have prima facie found that when Deekshitha and her father Kishore were on their bike, they had to slow down due to a damaged portion of the road near Dr Reddy’s Labs. Meanwhile, the van which was just behind them, hit their vehicle, resulting in the accident.

However, locals claimed that while negotiating the ‘pothole’ on the road, Kishore lost control and fell down, following which Deekshitha came under the wheels of the van.

Prima findings of the PME indicated that Deekhshitha died of a severe head injury. Her final rites were performed at their native village in West Godavari on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the van has been sent for examination for further investigation
