HYDERABAD: A 76-year-old Gulf returnee has been arrested by Habeeb Nagar police on Thursday for allegedly raping and impregnating a 13-year-old, Class VIII student. According to the police, the man, identified as Abdul Wahab, a resident of Aghapura in Habeeb Nagar, has been sexually assaulting the minor since June 2017, by luring her with chocolates and snacks.
“The minor girl was his maid’s daughter’s friend and she used to visit his place to meet her,” police Inspector of Habeeb Nagar P. Madhukar Swamy said.
While his daughter-in-law used to visit her maternal place in Golconda, during weekends and holidays, he used to sexually assault the 13-year-old, who is now seven-months pregnant.
Since June, he had been continuously assaulting her and he stopped ever since she started having pain. As she had continuous pain, her parents consulted doctors. When the medics confirmed her pregnancy, her father, who is also working in Saudi, was informed following which he flew down to the city. “Based on a complaint given by them, a case has been booked against the man and got him in custody,” said the official.
