Thiruvananthapuram: A 23- year-old youth was brutally beaten to death in Thiruvananthapuram and his companion seriously injured, after a gang of four men attacked the duo while they were travelling on a motorbike.
The incident took place in Attingal area of the capital, and the victim was identified as Manakkadu Veettil Shabeer.
Shabeer and his friend Unnikrishnan were travelling in a motorcycle when they were interrupted by a group of four men armed with logs.
A mobile phone video that captured the video showed Shabeer being chased down by the gang before being brutally beaten by the gang.
Reports claimed that Shabeer was a witness to a crime committed by the men last year and that the attack was a vendetta.
Shabeer and his friend were taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police have identified the men in the video, who are currently in hiding. Unnikrishnan is undergoing treatment in the hospital following serious injuries. The video recording the incident was uploaded in Facebook and has gone viral.
