Ganja peddling: Two law students from TN held in Andhra Pradesh

TIRUPATI: Tiruchanoor police arrested two law students from Tamil Nadu on suspicion of ganja smuggling in Tirupati on Monday. Divin Selvaraj and Tanush Krishnan, both LLB students at a private law college in Tirupati, were caught with 2.1 kg of ganja worth Rs 10,000.

After getting a tip-off from a source, a squad led by Tiruchanoor CI Siva Prasad Reddy surrounded the accused at Tanapalli bus stop on the Chandragiri - Renigunta route. During the search, the police found the illegal narcotic hidden within their backpacks in a taped packet.

According to investigations, the accused travelled to Icchapuram on July 27 and purchased the ganja from unidentified peddlers. They brought the illegal material back to Tirupati to distribute it or even convince their colleagues to ingest it. Police believe the two students had a history of cannabis use, which may have led them to engage in smuggling activities.
