Hyderabad: The police seized a large quantity of tetanus vaccine from a building in Amberpet on Tuesday night.
The vials belong to Dano Vaccines and Biologicals Private Limited, Ghatkesar, and were stored in a warehouse in Amberpet. Local drug inspectors assisted the police in the raids. The samples were sent to the forensic laboratory for analysis, said Mr V. V. Srinivasa Rao, Hyderabad commissioner.
He further said that the police is questioning a person who brought the vials from the factory to the warehouse. “We are checking if they were repacked,” the police said. A case is registered under the Drugs and Cosmetic Act, 1940.
The TS drug control authority maintained that the vials were rejected. According to the norm, rejected vials have to be destroyed inside the factory premises. Mr K. Kailasam, joint director at the TS drug control office, said, “We seized all the boxes and intimated to the court.”
