Elevating real beauty

This undergrad student's unmatched love for capturing visually-appealing frames is a result of childhood inspiration coupled with passion.

They say that a picture can speak a thousand words. But the photographs clicked by 20-year-old Pranav Sujay go beyond words, and are creating a heady buzz on social media.

Among the ones on display online, especially noteworthy are the ones from the heritage walk at Bella Vista. So much so that many prominent people from the city have shared his photographs.

Coming from the picturesque land of Kerala, Pranav has been living in the city since three years for his studies. The final-year B.A. (social science) student at Tata Institute of Social Sciences got inspired from his father and took to photography. He shares, “When I was a kid, I used to see my father meddling with different hues and pictures. I think that inspired me.” Initially, Pranav gave wings to this interest with mobile photography. “It’s been only a year since I bought a professional camera. I’ve travelled a lot after coming to Hyderabad. I have very few friends, and I prefer to travel solo — my camera is my best friend and companion while travelling,” he replies when asked to elaborate on his passion for clicking.

Explaining what goes into taking the perfect shot, Pranav, who loves to capture candid moments, nature and heritage structures, says, “I can’t click pictures when people are posing. I want to capture their carefree moments. There have been quite a few instances where I have got into trouble for this.” He further shares, “Once I was clicking a gentleman selling some old items near Charminar from a distance. At first he didn’t notice me clicking. But once he did, he started abusing me and even asked me to delete the shots.”

Pranav’s Facebook page is titled ‘Pranav’s Pix Elation’. Giving more details about his kind of photography, he says, “There are two underlying meanings which give a glimpse of what my photography is about. Firstly, pixilation, that is converting my vision into pixels. Second, the elation of the pixels or rather the vision, which basically has to do with the composition of a good shot and a visually-appealing perspective.”
