Sky is not the limit!

The students demonstrated their real-life space ideas (via PPT) to Dominic and his panel of judges.

Students got an “out of the world” experience when Dominic A. Antonelli, a former NASA astronaut visited (his maiden trip to India) the Hyderabad Public School in Begumpet on Sunday. His visit was part of the school’s initiative to promote the concept of ‘experimental education’ and inspire students in the field of science and technology.

The students demonstrated their real-life space ideas (via PPT) to Dominic and his panel of judges. As many as 17 teams’ presentations were made followed by a Q and A session. The ‘most viable idea’ will be carried out by the astronauts at The International Space Station (ISS).

“When I talk to these young students today and share my experience that I had aboard the space shuttle, I am just amazed that they have that same level of excitement today that I had back then,”says Dominic. Meanwhile, students were enlightened on their scientific and research ideas. Anusha, a student studying XI in Oakridge School says that she wants to become an environmental engineer. “The idea itself gives a fresh perspective to science because of the research I have done for the presentation. The session once again proves that R and D is the key to any emerging technology. Such sessions help us grow not only academically but also personality wise. It helps in building leadership skills, soft skills and team work,” she shares.

Dominic also indulged the children in some exercises in the middle of the presentations to make the session more engaging and keep the students on their toes.
