Delhi restaurateur starts food service that distributes fresh meals to the poor

Rasoi On Wheels lets people hire their food delivery services for charitable purposes with little to zero profit in return.

Many a times even when members of disadvantaged sections of society manage to receive something to eat, the food unfortunately happens to be leftovers or of poor quality. But one Delhi restaurant-owner aims to change that with his special Rasoi On Wheels service. Atul Kapoor, who also co-runs the QBA restaurant in Connaught Place, was inspired by traditional langars to come up with a charitable catering service that delivers fresh food to the poor.

Rasoi On Wheels lets people hire their food delivery services for charitable purposes with little to zero profit in return. The noble initiative which was started in March this year has enabled the distribution of at least 300 meal boxes to places like construction sites, temples and slum areas.

Rasoi on Wheels has also collaborated with a number of schools for underprivileged children in Delhi and Gurgaon to bring food to slum neighbourhoods everyday. While regular food items on its menu include rajma chawal, roti, kadhi chawal, chhole, chawal and roti; sandwiches, chowmein, and burgers are reserved for special kiddie treats.
