Whether the ‘S’ word is silenced or not, S Durga stands tall at the 19th Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI). The movie that was mired in controversy for its name received special jury mention for India Gold at the prestigious film festival.
Director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan shared his happiness on Facebook thus: “The best part of the award (Special Jury Mention) for #SexyDurga in MAMI Mumbai International Film Festival is that, every one, the Jury, the comperer and Rajsri who received the award mentioned the title only as “Sexy Durga”!! Woww!! Thats the biggest award for us [sic].” The title was cut short to S Durga upon which it received CBFC certification.
