City-based entrepreneurs Bunty Mukesh Mutha, an agri-businessman, and educationist Sonali Jain, who runs one of Chennai's well-known playschools, have teamed up with Kashish Jain to conduct beauty pageants that celebrate men and women, both married and single. Their aim is to boost social causes through popular platforms.
Speaking to DC, Sonali, says, “My family always told me that women must sharpen their skills and intellects and should have their own identity. Hence, I got into the education sector. But I felt women, even urban women, are either very body-conscious or are tied down so much by responsibilities that they forget their own aspirations.” She says she felt the need to help women live their dreams and understand the global scenario and also to equip them with the basics of time-management and career guidance.
The pageant conducts auditions across India and is a platform for even married women and men aspiring to be in the film industry. It is fast gaining popularity thanks to Bunty's innovative ideas. He says, “Women of all ages are talented and have a certain emotional quotient that is essential not just to keep a home happy, but for the growth of communities. So, we decided to ensure we have married women looking at getting back into a career or rediscovering themselves and shedding their inhibitions as part of the pageant. Men too are generally left out of the beauty equation and it's often only bodybuilders who get showcased. We wanted to showcase men who can inspire others to live healthier lives.”
The pageant recently wrapped up auditions in Chennai and is now going to other cities.
It is a matter of pride that two Chennai-based entrepreneurs with no real godfather or backing, have taken on this task of doing something meaningful packaged in a way that is appealing to all.
