People on the Internet donate more food than Japan's Cat Island can store

The people in Aoshima got far more than they ever expected.

The famous Cat Island Aoshima, is a place where cats outnumber humans 6 to 1. It’s a tiny remote island in the Ehime Prefecture of southern Japan.

One can easily imagine what people felt when the food service was kept on hold due to bad weather condition.

To prevent the starving condition for the cat, they turned to the Internet for help and it turned out to be fruitful.

“Please send cat food to Aoshima,” a cat caretaker tweeted. “There are no stores to buy food here on Aoshima. The people here acquire their necessities by taking a boat to the mainland. However, it’s extremely windy in winter, and boat service is often suspended.”

Her request was answered and the island was flooding with donation.

“Please stop sending cat food to Aoshima,” the caretaker tweeted few days later. “We got far more than we ever expected, and there’s no more storage room. We’ll be fine until April. Thank you all very much.”
