Video: Cashier makes deaf girl's day by taking order in sign language

Now that's a nice way to brighten up someone's day!

A 20-year-old hearing-impaired woman was able to order a meal herself for the first time in her life thanks to a cashier who happened to know sign language. Cynthia Walker and her mother were so touched by the experience that they decided to share the moment on social media.

Cynthia’s mother, Terri Buelman, told ABC News that this was the first time that her daughter was able to order something without feeling self-conscious about people staring at her. The family had earlier heard about a cashier at the Chick-Fil-A who knew sign language and had helped other hearing-impaired customers with their orders.

At the fast food outlet, Taylor Anez, a high school senior, surprised them by signing back after Cynthia attempted to place an order. Anez later said that she had learned sign language so that she could communicate with her deaf relatives.
