Women can also get erect
In the same way as a man’s penis swells with blood during arousal, a woman’s clitoris can become erect as well. When she is turned on, blood flows to her clitoris and causes it to swell and become sensitive to touch.
Sexual stimulation can be different for different women
“Every woman is different and they’re not all going to respond in the same way,” Dr Hilda Hutcherson, who is a gynaecologist, told Huffpost. “Women can have different parts of their bodies that are more sensitive than others.” While some women can orgasm from clitoral stimulation, another can only reach climax through vaginal penetration, she explains.
Do not ignore the clitoris
The clitoris has an estimated 8,000 nerve endings, which exist solely for feeling pleasure. Dr. Hutcherson advises women and their partners to try out different positions (during foreplay and intercourse) in order to stimulate all of the clitoral tissue and not just the head.
Lubrication is not a sure-shot sign of a woman’s arousal
Even though women are capable of lubricating naturally, there can be certain situations when vaginal lubrication can be more difficult. For instance, lubrication might not come easily for women after menstruation. Moreover, there are certain types of medications that can prevent a woman from lubricating. Changes in hormones, birth control and age also play a major role in this regard.
