Odisha: Sambar deer horns seized

Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested youth was transporting them outside Odisha.

Sambalpur: The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau of Odisha on Wednesday seized 50 kilogram of Sambar deer horns and bear nails being transported from Bargarh near here.

Acting on a tip off, the Bureau busted the racket and has arrested one from Bhatli in Bargarh forest range on charges of illegally transporting them.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested youth was transporting them outside Odisha.

The Sambar deer is categorised highly endangered and comes under Schedule III of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, state forest officials said, adding, more information in this regard would be available after detailed interrogation.
