Hyderabad: Another deer dead in University of Hyderabad

Wildlife activists claim that the carcass went missing within 30 minutes of the death being reported and could not be traced so far.

Hyderabad: Another deer was found on the grounds of the University of Hyderabad with its head chopped off, lying near the old horticulture department on Tuesday evening. The carcass was spotted at 6:45 pm. Wildlife activists claim that the carcass went missing within 30 minutes of the death being reported and could not be traced so far. In the course of last year, there have been many wild animal killings, with 44 spotted deer and more than 10 wild boars killed in the university campus either by poachers or stray dogs.

Ravi Jillapalli, founder of the wildlife organisation Wild Lens, said, “Last week a deer was killed by poachers, yesterday a wild boar was found dead and today, a fawn. But, surprisingly, no record or report of this is available with concerned officials.” He asked how “The carcass went missing within 30 minutes.” Chief Conservator of Forests, Ranga Reddy, S Kukrety said, “We are talking to UoH authorities on this as a number of incidents have occured on their campus.”
