Ready to rock the party

Here's a quick guide on how you can spruce up for that special New Year's eve night out on Monday.

2018 will be a thing of the past in a few days. But there is still one more occasion which will give you the chance to look your best — New Year’s Eve. With it just around the corner, fashionistas might to tend to get a bit frazzled with the thought of choosing that perfect dress, accessories, clutch and even shoes. With a little help from our designers, looking your best and standing out will be as easy as eating a piece of pie.

Upgraded Little Black Dress: This new year, you can either stick to the classic LBD or jazz it up. Designer Reshma Kunhi says, “The evergreen LBD (either short or long) is a great choice. People can also try options in metallics, shimmer, and hues in silver and gold. Since there is no restriction, you can wear anything from but keeping in mind body type. A person who is on the heavier side can opt for a matte mettalic dress rather than a shiny one. Also while heading out to party, carry along additional shoes that are comfortable. This will come in handy when you want to cast aside those pointy stilettos.”

Can’t go wrong with a Jumpsuit: Opt for an outfit that can be re-used multiple time. Stylist Zohara Jamal says, “People tend to look for statement outfits that are nice, blingy, shinny and formal but what’s the use when you can’t wear it again. Instead opt for a solid colour jumpsuit and bling it up with accessories like a statement neckpiece, earrings and shoes. Colours that you can try black, navy blue, read and also emerald green that is still very festive.”

Comfort first: With all the dancing and club hopping one will be doing, comfort is very important. Designer Deepta Ragunath says, “Play with prints and embellishments and keeping the silhouette and cut simple is the key for theNew Year’s Eve outfit for women. You can pair it up with ear cuffs and maybe chunky rings and keeping the neck bare. Even a classic gold watch and funky ring and many bracelets clubbed will also do. Stilettos would be a complete no, maybe block heels would do it all.”

Men have not been forgotten: “For a formal five star event, a black tuxedo is the best. But for a more casual night out — denim pants with a shirt and jacket,” opines Reshma. Deepta concludes by adding that men can play around with belts and pair their outfits with suede formal shoes.
