The winter tress edit

Autumn/Winter 2016 brought us warmth, ironically.

I used to have a standard anecdote about my average female clientele, "I want a haircut. Don't cut my length, my fringe, or my layers… But make me look totally different!" I won't lie. This hasn't changed much, aside from the occasional LOB and asymmetric bob. But recently, Indian women have realised there's another way to completely change their look, without losing an inch. Quirky hair colours are the trendiest kids on the beauty block – and we’re talking about rainbows and unicorn hues! Hair has become an accessory, versatile and expressive. It changes with the season, or even with your outfit!

Autumn/Winter 2016 brought us warmth, ironically. To counteract the cold, colours are leaning (or rather, 'fall'ing) towards rich, golden browns, caramels and chocolates. Summer's neon pinks have been replaced by rose blush, dusky mauve, and soft pastels. The only sign that winter is coming is the rapidly advancing, icy cold finger of #GreyHairDontCare. Anywhere you look; Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, men and women alike have embraced the glorious trend, aptly named Granny Chic.

The key to getting a trend-worthy style that also suits you, is to find a great stylist. A great stylist not only knows how to shape your hair with a swish and flick of their wrist, they know you. They appreciate that you and your hair are unique. There are many types of growth patterns and hair textures, and each must be cut according to their natural pattern. The tools don't matter as much as the technique. The best way to help your stylist is to create a pinterest board of looks that excite you. Try and find pictures of people with your natural hair texture. Show your stylist the pictures, discuss it, and then leave the rest to them!
