Go minimal for maximum impact say city based jewellery and accessory designers as they track down the latest trends for Bengaluru's fashionistas

Gone are the days of people donning chunky and oversized jewellery. Now, minimalism is king and replacing big bold bling! And let’s get real; the weather is too hot to have heavy jewellery weighing you down.

From supermodels like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner to top actresses like Rachel McAdams, everybody is seen sporting these delicate low hanging necklaces and barely there bracelets.

The contemporary fad is hassle free has become a huge fad today. “It is easier to style minimalistic pieces that have cleaner sleeker lines, with a vast number of outfits as there is not too much happening and they are not as dramatic as chunky accessories,” says Mrinalini Cariapa, a jewellery designer from the city.

“But styling these accessories is easier with western attire than traditional Indian outfits. The trend is here to stay because they are as chic and timeless as classics like solitaires and pearl necklaces and can be pulled off with equal class,” says the designer about the trend.

The simple yet intricate pieces have become a huge hit among the youth of today. “A layered necklace is the perfect go-to when wearing solids and can be styled in a boho/hippy way as well as a classy way because they come in different styles with dainty charms, tassles and simple layers. Midi rings that are in plain gold and silver are very easy to mix and match. Unlike the wrist-to-elbow arm candy that was so popular in the past, minimalist accessories are all about simplicity and chicness and they do look best when layered,” budding designer Samtha Shanker.

Minimalistic accessories are also known to avoid clutter and let the focus be more on your outfits. “Gone are the days when chunky jewellery which would cover half your outfit was the in thing. Now, more than the bling, minimalism stands out because you can pair them with anything from tank tops to gowns. They are good experimental pieces that create less of a mess,” explains blogger Aswathi Balakrishnan.

So ladies, for a luxe style statement, put those chunky accessories aside and focus minimal pieces for maximum impact!
