Kozhikode: Art show of 22 kids draws crowd

50 paintings created by children of class I to VIII standard

KOZHIKODE: The painting exhibition of 22 children, organised by the ‘Chithakoodam’ painting community, Koyilandy is drawing a crowd at ‘Shradha’ Art gallery in Koyilandy. The 50 paintings are the creation of children studying in 1st standard to 8th standard in various schools in and around Koyilandy. The works, done in water colour, acrylic and oil pastel as a medium reflects the curiosity and innocence of young minds.

“It is an opportunity for child artistes to get exposed. The feedback on their works gives valuable insights and better understanding about the medium,” said Artist Sai Prasad. C.K, the Dean of Chithrakoodam. A majority of the works have nature as subjects. A few had chosen family moments, life sketches and village life. Gopikrishnan’s Jackfruit painting, Kausalya S. Nair’s family portrait work and that of Mohammad Najad are noteworthy.

“The works of the young talents are promising. The raw, fresh look and purity makes them stand apart,” said U. Jithesh after seeing the paintings. Among the child artistes, eight are girls. The exhibition has an art work by eight- month-old Sai Meera also. The 10-day painting exhibition was inaugurated by Artist Madanan on March 18. U.K Raghavan, Shaji Kavil, N.V Balakrishnan among others were present. The exhibition is on between 10.30 am and 6.30 pm.
