All those who love food but are short on time, get set to dig into some lip- smacking and easy-to-make snack recipes. The new cookbook 4 o’ clock temptations of Kerala by Nimi Sunil Kumar is a boon to foodies. The passionate food buff, cook, author, food blogger, culinary demonstrator, food photographer and food stylist has struck the right note yet again by coming up with a cookbook rich with authentic snack recipes of Kerala. The book is sure to have a line of foodies head straight to their kitchen knives, ladles, ingredients and pans at the ready.
The book is Nimi’s third cookbook and an excellent compilation of 54 recipes from God’s own country. The book which represented India at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards — the Oscars of Gastronomy — competed with 209 countries in the section of world cuisine and bagged the title of the Best Indian Cuisine Cookbook in the World. The Gourmand World Cookbook Award event was held at Yantai, China.
“The event is a gathering of cookbook and wine book writers, hundreds of publishers, authors, chefs and journalists from all over the world. Foodies from around the globe find their way to this grand event and you get to meet a lot of people from different countries,” says Nimi.
4 o clock temptations of Kerala features scrumptious munchies from Kasargod to Trivandrum. It was first exhibited at the acclaimed Frankfurt World Book Fair in Germany. All the photographs featured in her books are clicked by her and she also designed the whole book too.
Her very first self-published cookbook Lip-smacking dishes of Kerala was brought out in 2010. “From breakfast to lunch to snacks to deserts, the book is a collection of about 60 authentic Kerala recipes with photographs. It includes recipes from every corner of Kerala. I travelled widely to get some of the recipes,” says the enthusiastic foodie.
She runs her own traditional cooking classes ‘Nimmy’s Lip-smacking Classes’ in Munnar, Kerala. A dietician in Tata School, Munnar, Nimmi’s cooking classes are listed under travel websites like Trip Advisor and Lonely Planet.
