Braving the chilly air, a large crowd turned up at Rock Heights in Hitec City to witness the final performance of the Krishnakriti Festival of Art and Culture, 2017 on Sunday. ‘Rhythm Divine’ and ‘The River Runs Deep’, contemporary dance performances staged by renowned artiste Astad Deboo and his team from Manipur, showcased the simple lifestyle people there lead and the challenges they face.
The dancers took the audience into a trance-like state while performing ‘The River Runs Deep’, beginning with a slow, smooth dance, almost like a calm boat ride, before they raged with energy, replicating a storm. Whenever Astad took to the stage, the audience were rapt with attention as they watched the master sway gracefully to the music. No doubt, the Lahotis saved the best for the last.
