The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet recently organised a dance repertoire at the Prime Minister’s residence in New Delhi, where over 30 renowned artistes from various classical dance forms presented classic compositions.

Kuchipudi dance exponent from the city, Dr G. Padmaja Reddy had the opportunity to be a part of this event and presented an abbreviated version of Bhamakalapam — an epic composition.

Sharing her experience, she says, “I was a little nervous in the beginning, but when I went on the stage, it was nice to perform in front of such dignitaries. I got the opportunity to meet other exponents from their fields and share knowledge.”

She says that she became emotional on hearing appreciative comments from the PM who reportedly said, “Padmaji, I have heard and read about the character Satyabhama, now I am happy to have seen her!”
