Mahesh Babu’s Pokiri created history when it was released on April 28, 2006. The film became the highest grosser of Tollywood at the time and propelled Mahesh Babu to stardom. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film’s female lead Ileana, too, became a star overnight. That was 10 years ago.
Cut to the present, Mahesh Babu debuts in Tamil in a bi-lingual directed by A.R. Murugadoss. The crew is currently shooting in Chennai after which they will shift to Hyderabad.
Produced by N.V. Prasad and Tagore Madhu, the makers plan to release the film on April 28, 2017 — the same date on which Pokiri was released, ten years ago.
Touted to be an action thriller and a high budget film, the question on everyone’s mind is, will this film too make an impact like Pokiri did?
