Krishna Vamsi thanks JD Chakravarthy

The actor-director duo have teamed up after 20 years.

After beginning his career directing J.D. Chakravarthy, director Krishna Vamsi is again teaming up with the actor for his upcoming film Nakshatram. For Krishna Vamsi, “JD” was “the firstest friend in Hyderabad”. The duo has worked together in films such as Money Money, Anaganaga Oka Roju and later, in the latter’s directorial debut Gulabi.

“After 20 years, in Nakshatram, I needed some “power” for a character. I thought of a lot of names, but none gave me that kick. Suddenly, I felt, why not Chakri! I immediately called him and without even hearing what the story was about, he said yes. The character is neither up to his calibre, nor matches his image or potential, but he still came forward and gave life to it. I am so thankful,” the director posted on his social media. He added, “I became nostalgic while shooting; it was as if we had travelled back 20 years.”

Krishna Vamsi also recalled how JD made him “a true Hyderabadi”.

“He introduced me to Hyderabad roads, traffic, culture, “galli” fights, pubs, cinema theatres, races, biriyani and the Old City. Thanks to him, I became a true Hyderabadi,” the director shared. Nakshatram also stars Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassandra, Sai Dharam Tej and Pragya Jaiswal.
