Didn't live up to expectations, says Vijayendra Prasad

Director Vijendra Prasad apologised to the producers for Srivalli's failure.

Well-known writer-director Vijayendra Prasad has failed as a director, yet again. His latest film Srivalli, which released last week, did not receive positive feedback from either the critics or the audiences. Interestingly, Vijay has admitted that he is responsible for the film’s fate.

In a post-release meet on Wednesday, the writer expressed, “Making a film with new actors is a big task and once it is completed, releasing the film itself is a big success. I appreciate my producers for believing my story and producing the sci-fi thriller. All other artistes and technicians gave their best to the film except me. I should have done a better job as director. I apologise to the producers and I want to take the responsibility for the failure.”

Until now, including Srivalli, Vijayendra has directed three films, all of which have flopped at the box office. Interestingly, as a writer he has delivered blockbuster films like Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, but when it comes to directing his own stories, Vijayendra has not been able to hit the bull’s eye yet.

Offering guidance and helping his producers in the future is what Vijay hopes to do. “They (the producers) have made this film with lot of confidence in my story, but I didn’t live up to their expectations. So I want to help them to make better films in the near future. I treat their home production as mine. I also appeal to everyone, if they have a good story, come and narrate it to the producers, I will also chip in to fine-tune the script.”
