Canadian-Indian singer Shashaa Tirupati is thrilled that her song Yanthara Lokapu from 2.0 starring Rajinikanth is an instant earworm. The singer, who earlier crooned impressive numbers for Southern films like Vikramasimha, OK Bangaram, 24, Sahasam Swasaga Sagipo, Cheliya, etc., says that she’s very excited with her South Indian stint.

“I have sung Yanthara Lokapu in all the three languages and I am glad that it has been received well. I am happy that I am able to come up with a different genre of songs every time I get an opportunity. I want to be called a versatile singer and such accolades will only take me closer to being one,” states Shashaa.

Having been associated with A.R. Rahman for several years now, the multilingual singer recently won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the Tamil song Vaan Varuvaan from Kaatru Veliyidai (Cheliya in Telugu).

“I ascribe the award to the ‘Mozart of Madras’; he’s been an inspiration and mentor in my life. I can’t thank him enough,” she says, adding, “Music in the South has a great mix of melody and rhythm, and that’s the best part.”
