Actress Vidya Balan made a last minute exit as she couldn’t adjust her dates for superstar Rajinikanth, as the initial schedule of his next was postponed. And so, the makers soon went into a search mode for a suitable leading actress and after considering several names, have zeroed in on Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi to play the lead role in the film being directed by Kabali director Pa. Ranjith.
“Just like Kabali, this film is from the gangster genre and the female lead will have a very prominent role. The makers didn’t want a glamourous name but were instead searching for someone who can have a strong screen presence as the character is completely performance oriented,” shares a source, adding, “she will start shooting for the film in Mumbai from May 28 when the film goes on floors, and has even begun preparations.” A production of Dhanush under his banner Wunderbar Films, the film will have music scored by Santosh Narayanan of Guru fame.
