When Sundeep Kishan-starrer Maayavan was released in 2017, Neil
Nitin Mukhesh was one of the first celebs to rave about it. And now, six years later, fittingly, he has been roped in by director C.V. Kumar for a significant role in the sequel, MaayaOne. The second instalment of the science fiction thriller was announced recently.
Apparently, Neil and Sundeep are good friends and admire each other’s work. “I like Sundeep’s filmography; whenever we meet, we discuss story ideas and scripts because we hold similar views. He recently told me that Kumar wanted to talk to me regarding casting me in the second instalment,” shares Neil who is thrilled to be on board MaayaOne.
Neil says he likes Kumar’s work and his futuristic concept of storytelling. “It gives young actors like us the confidence to explore more genres and newer stories. And Kumar Sir’s ability to push creative boundaries is praiseworthy,” he adds.
Neil, who shared the screen with Prabhas in Saaho, was last seen in a South film in 2019 (Kavacham). He says although he got several offers, nothing excited him till MaayaOne. Neil is prepping for his character. “I am presently working with my diction coach to make sure that I understand the meaning of the dialogues and express myself better,” says the actor, who has also shed a few kilos for the part.
